See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

intro post

call me Beckett or Beck or “that guy”, idc. He/him & it/its pronouns, bigender. acespec, arospec, & bi. MINOR. white. Main blog is @transmasc-wizard.

i’m chronically ill, which is the subject of this blog. I’m looking into disabilities and for the time being believe i probably have fibromyalgia, though i can’t be sure. (I’m also autistic with OCD, among other things.) I’m just here to talk about my experiences and be part of a community, and while conversations can be difficult, i am willing to talk + answer questions to the best of my ability.

"You can have X and still feel empathy!" True, but the people who DON'T experience empathy don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either

"Having X doesn't mean you can't be smart!" True, but the people you WOULDN'T consider smart don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either

"Having X doesn't mean you're violent!" True, but the people who have been violent don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either

"You can have X and still take care of yourself!" True, but the people who genuinely can't don't deserve to get thrown under the bus either

"You can have X and still act normal!" True, but can you guess what I have to add about the people who CAN'T act normal?

Because if your activism is all about trying to separate your personal self from ableist dehumanization instead of actually challenging said dehumanization, your activism really sucks!

people have got to get normaler about systems

  • no we are not going to kill anyone
  • introjects aren't literally blorbo from your show and expecting them to act exactly the same as blorbo is weird
  • u cant just demand someone else fronts it's rude and weird. also talking to a system isn't really a choose your own adventure type of thing
  • no there isn't an "evil alter"
  • persecutor alters do exist and are common but they arent evil alters and should be treated with the same respect youd treat anyone else
  • some systems have like 2 or 3 members and others have hundreds. its generally not ur business why a system has the amount of alters they do
  • u arent entitled to know whos fronting 24/7. a lot of systems dont even always know whos fronting let alone want to share
  • switching is often not obvious or dramatic at all. it can be but generally it's not.though it does depend if someone has a more overt or covert presentation
  • did isnt actually that rare. around 1.5% of people are diagnosed with did and it goes undiagnosed a lot. and 1.5% is around the same amount of people who have red hair or ocd or green eyes
  • you have absolutely no way of knowing if someone is "faking" or lying about being a system. "what about-" nope not even if they do that. almost everything that people claim make it obvious someones lying (nonhuman alters, bigger systems, overt presentation etc) are just... ways that systems exist. ur not in their head, u dont get to decide what theyre experiencing
  • no we arent possessed
  • yes it is a real disorder

“mental illness does not make you inherently violent” is a statement that does not contradict “mental illness can influence your behaviour and make it harder for you to behave in certain, less harmful ways” is a statement that does not contradict with “you never have to put up with anyone mistreating you” is a statement that does not contradict with “not everyone is 100% in full control of their behaviour and it is saneist to assume otherwise”

Shout out to people who need others to read number a for them

Shout out to people who cry over maths and numbers

Shout out to people who say the wrong numbers when reading or talking about prices and the time of day

Shout out to people who can't read charts and graphs

Shout out to people who get confused with mathematical concepts

Shout out to people who's maths struggles limit them

Shout out to people with dyscalculia or math struggles, basically. I am with you. I am here for you. I see you. It sucks, and most of the world doesn't even know about dyscalculia. But it'll be ok. It won't go away but people will help you, you can adapt. I love you. Screw math ❤

i feel like we dont talk enough about how distressing and disturbing memory loss issues are. forgetting what you were talking about halfway through a sentence, putting something down and instantly forgetting where you put it. having to reread one paragraph over and over again because by the time youve moved onto the next sentence you dont remember what the one before it said. always doubting if your memories of things are real, not being able to remember important life events.

its so incredibly scary, it feels like your mind is constantly playing tricks on you and you start to doubt whats real and what isnt.

“i forgot” is treated like a lazy excuse when it’s genuinely such a big issue for so many people.

THIS SHOW IS SO PURE!

It’s worth noting that Kenneth spent the entire episode making the game (and the subsequent fight) as inclusive as possible for JJ and his disabled friends (all of whom were played by disabled actors/actresses).

Here’s to hoping that every single person with schizophrenia or a schizoaffective disorder or DID or NPD or any other ridiculously demonized mental illnesses has a wonderful day

momowho34

Man I hate posts about the Neurodivergent Experience that try to universalize it in opposition to the Neurotypical Experience. I just saw a post about how "neurodivergent people don't perceive early signs of hunger and neurotypical people do which is why neurodivergent people forget to eat" and a bunch of people in the comments like "whoamygod makes so much sense" but like, I am able to detect hunger at its early stages. I do forget to eat when I'm manic but that's because I'm distracted and don't notice it, not because I'm not able to perceive it if I think about it. Anyway the Neurodivergent Experience is not universal and one size fits all so stop saying stuff like "the Neurodivergent Experience is __" it can be annoying especially to people like me who have been told they're faking it their whole lives. Even something like "a lot of neurodivergent people have this" can go a long way to being inclusive.

sure you have "neurospicy accomodations" (stim toys and slime) at your support group meeting but are masks required. is it wheelchair accessible? is the lighting harsh or flickering? is there a place to go if you're upset or overstimulated? is there a clear schedule? does anyone in the group speak sign language? could a nonverbal person participate? are there multiple options for activities? is there music? is it loud? is there food? how many options are there? are there common allergens in it? are they clearly labelled? are there flashing lights? can you attend virtually? are hallways and pathways clear? are there accessible bathrooms? do they have a sharps box? do they have space for someone to transfer from a wheelchair to a toilet? do they have space for a caregiver or support worker? are there enough places to sit down? is there enough space for everyone to be without crowding? can people opt-out of planned activities? et cetera...

could a blind person feasibly participate

fun fact: “tired” is not supposed to be your default state of existence

gasterofficial

immediately concerned by how many people were like “wait really??” in the tags. may i suggest you guys read up on chronic fatigue iron and magnesium deficiencies (among others) and executive dysfunction as starter material

gasterofficial

as somebody in the reblogs added, vitamin D deficiency is also a very common reason for fatigue (and I also had this one and just forgot to add it)
